The Weight of the Gaze I (2024)

The first piece of The Weight of the Gaze triptych explores the symbolic weight of the gaze as the origin point of self-perception.

A female figure rises upon an ambiguous pedestal —both solid and fluid— with a blurred face and eyes reduced to vibrating marks that seem to observe and be observed simultaneously.

The composition, dominated by curved planes and tense torsos, evokes the tension between vulnerability and control, between what is revealed and what remains hidden.

The unstable balance of the figure suggests the fragility of identity when confronted with internal judgment, while the surrounding space dissolves into a contained, almost suspended atmosphere.

The Weight of the Gaze I introduces introspection as an act of resistance —the pursuit of authenticity amid the constant pressure of the gaze, one’s own or that of others.
