Reentry (2024)

Reentry explores the essential relationship between the human being and nature, taking as its starting point one of surfing's most radical maneuvers: the reentry.

The act of reconnecting with the wave after a moment of rupture becomes a metaphor for inner balance —for the ability to regain harmony with the natural rhythm after chaos.

Plaza pushes the abstraction of the body to its limits in order to capture the pure energy of motion. The figure —suspended between torsion and flight— dissolves into dynamic planes that spin in opposite directions, creating a harmonic tension between impulse and control.

The face, almost vanished, evokes the temporary loss of self before the power of the environment. The crest of the wave, rendered as a folded paper form, embodies the ocean’s vital pulse —order and freedom coexisting in a single gesture.

In this work, movement transcends description and becomes thought. Reentry celebrates the moment when the body realigns with nature.
