Left Goofy (2024)
Left Goofy embodies surrender to movement —the freedom that emerges when the body stops imposing itself upon the environment and begins to flow with it.
The left-breaking wave becomes a metaphor for vital energy —a force not to be controlled but inhabited.
The term goofy —popularized by a 1937 Disney short and later adopted into surf slang to describe the stance with the right foot forward— brings a symbolic layer to the work: the playful, instinctive, and naïve as expressions of truth.
In this composition, forms dissolve, edges soften, and color becomes breathable. Plaza captures the moment when human gesture yields to nature without losing its identity, revealing that harmony arises not from mastery but from surrender.
If Right Regular stands for stability, Left Goofy is its luminous counterpart: a celebration of instinct, intuition, and the inner freedom that thrives even within chaos.
